How to create a nutrition program in NutriFit

A nutrition program in NutriFit is a weekly meal plan: which meals, at what time, on which days, with your instructions for each one. You can build one from scratch during a visit, but the fast way is to keep Program Templates for the plans you prescribe often and apply one in two clicks.

Part 1: Build a template

Step 1: Open Program Templates

Click Program Templates in the sidebar. The first time you will see No templates yet with the hint "Create your first template of meals so you can instantly assign it to patients during encounters." Click Create template (or Create first template).

Step 2: Name it

Name (required), for example "Low carb week" or "1,500 kcal Mediterranean".

Description (optional): who it is for, or what to watch.

Step 3: Add meals

Click Add meal once per meal. Each meal has:

Meal title — Breakfast, Mid-morning snack, Lunch…

Time — When the client should eat it. Defaults to 08:00

Start date — Defaults to this week's Monday. For a template, leave it; you will set real dates when you prescribe

End date (optional) — Leave empty for an open-ended plan

Meal Content — The instruction the client will read: foods, portions, swaps, tips

Days — Tick Mon to Sun. One entry is created per ticked day

Meal rows collapse once filled. Each shows its title and days, and a Remove button.

Write Meal Content the way you would say it to the client. It appears word for word in their app. For example: "2 eggs any style, 1 slice whole-grain bread, cucumber and tomato, unsweetened tea. Swap eggs for 100 g labneh if preferred."

Step 4: Save

Click Save template. You see Template created, and the list shows the template as Active with its meals per week. A breakfast on seven days counts as seven meals per week.

To change a template later, click its row or use the ⋮ menu for Edit and Delete.

Templates are shared across your site, so every provider in your clinic can use them.

Part 2: Prescribe a program to a client

Programs are prescribed from inside an encounter, so the plan is tied to a documented visit.

Step 1: Open the client's encounter

Start or open a visit (Guide 4). Scroll to the Nutrition programs section. It reads No programs yet or lists the client's existing programs with their status and date range.

On a phone, use the Programs tab.

Step 2: Add a program

Click Add program. The New program dialog opens.

With a template

Click Use template and pick one. The list shows each template's name and meal count.

The name, description and meals fill in at once. You see Applied {template name}.

If the form already had content, NutriFit asks Replace this program? first. Click Replace to continue.

The template is copied into the program. Editing the template later does not change programs you already prescribed.

From scratch

Fill in Name (for example "4-week weight management"), Description, and add meals as in Part 1.

Step 3: Set dates and days for this client

Go through the meals and set the Start date to when the plan begins. Add an End date if the plan has one. Adjust Days if the client's week differs, for example no Friday lunch at home.

Step 4: Choose the status

Draft — You are still working on it. The client does not see it. This is the default

Active — The current plan. This is the one the client sees in their app

Completed — Finished. Keep it for the record

Cancelled — Stopped early

Set it to Active when the client should start following it.

Step 5: Save

Click Save (or ⌘↵). You see Program created. The section now lists the program as, for example, "Active · 21 meals · 27 Oct – 24 Nov".

Use the ⋮ menu on a program for Edit and Delete. Delete is immediate, so be sure.

Tips from busy clinics

One active program per client. The app shows active programs. When you move a client to a new plan, set the old one to Completed first.

Template names that say the goal. "Ramadan maintenance" or "Post-surgery soft diet" beats "Plan A".

Keep Meal Content short and concrete. Clients read it on a phone between meetings.

Let AI draft when you have templates. With AI suggestions switched on, the Review & sign tray can propose a program from your templates after a visit (Guide 5).
